  1. Beneficiary Categories:

    • Economically Weaker Section (EWS)

  2. Income Criteria:

    • Economically Weaker Section (EWS): Annual household income up to Rs. 3 lakh
    • Lower Income Group (LIG): Annual household income between Rs. 3 lakh and Rs. 6 lakh
    • Middle Income Group (MIG) I: Annual household income between Rs. 6 lakh and Rs. 12 lakh
    • Middle Income Group (MIG) II: Annual household income between Rs. 12 lakh and Rs. 18 lakh
  3. Property Ownership:

    • The beneficiary or any family member should not own a pucca house anywhere in India.
  4. Preference to Women:

    • Priority is given to households where the property is owned or co-owned by a female member.
  5. Age Criteria:

    • There is no specific age criterion for availing benefits under PMAY.
  6. Aadhaar Card:

    • Aadhaar card of the head of the family is mandatory for applying for PMAY benefits.
  7. Location of Property:

    • The property should be located in statutory towns as per the Census 2011 and their subsequent updates.
  8. Property Size:

    • The carpet area of the house should adhere to the prescribed limits:
      • EWS: Up to 30 square meters (323 square feet)
      • LIG: 30 to 60 square meters (323 to 645 square feet)
      • MIG I: 60 to 120 square meters (645 to 1,292 square feet)
      • MIG II: 60 to 150 square meters (645 to 1,614 square feet)
  9. Loan Criteria:

    • Applicants can avail benefits under PMAY only if they apply for home loans from lending institutions such as banks, housing finance companies, etc.
